  5. Well, it's time for the release of version 4.00.  Hope you
  6. like it, I know I will!  There are MANY new features, be
  7. sure to read about the below, as I think you'll enjoy
  8. them, especially the fullscreen and small features.

  15. A NOTE ABOUT LEGAL ISSUES
  16. ----------------------------------------------------------

  18. There have been releases of different methods of tricking
  19. EZ-Timer into thinking that it is registered.  I have just
  20. one thing to say about that:
  21.  
  22. You cant make any program crack proof.  The people who are 
  23. going to crack it, no matter how hard we make it, they 
  24. aren't going to pay for it no matter how hard it is to 
  25. crack.  AND, time spent crack-proofing it, is time spent 
  26. NOT making new features.
  27.  
  28. Therefore, I say to you, please be honest, and if everyone
  29. is honest, it'll mean better features for everyone since
  30. I don't have to spend more time working on making it 
  31. harder to crack!  I had to spend a lot of time working on
  32. making 4.00 harder to crack, and I could have spent that
  33. time working on better features, but I knew if I did then
  34. someone would make a crack a lot quicker for it.

  38. New Features
  39. ----------------------------------------------------------

  41. There are four main new features in EZ-Timer 4.00.
  42.  
  43. 1)If you maximize the main window, the time display will
  44. resize and become a lot bigger.  You then can change the
  45. font/size/style for the bigger display.  This would be 
  46. useful for keeping up with time if you are a considerable
  47. distance from your monitor.
  48.  
  49. 2)If you press the button titled "Small" in the top-left 
  50. hand corner, the main window will go away and a very small
  51. window will come up.  In this window is a time display
  52. showing whatever time is on the time display.  Also in
  53. this window is a check box.  If you check the check box, 
  54. you can go into another program and work in that program
  55. and the window will always stay "On Top" or visible.  In
  56. addition, there is a button that, upon clicking it, it 
  57. will take you back to the main window.

  59. 3)In the same cataglory as "Timer" and "Stopwatch" is 
  60. "Clock".  Upon selecting this, the time will be displayed
  61. in the time window.  Using the options, you can choose to
  62. either have it display the Data & Time or just the Time.

  64. 4)If you go to register now, instead of registering using
  65. the old registration method, there is now a handy wizard. 
  66. This wizard will guide you through the registration 
  67. process easily and quickly.

  71. Operation
  72. ----------------------------------------------------------

  74. The operation of EZ-Timer is fairly simple and 
  75. self-explanitory.  To set the time to count down from, 
  76. click the Set Time button and then click Ok.  To start the
  77. count down, click the start button.
  78.  
  79. If you want to count up (the stopwatch feature), choose 
  80. the stopwatch option and either press Start or you can 
  81. press Start From to start counting up from that point.
  82.  
  83. You can change the properties of the time display (the 
  84. background color, text size/font/color, etc.) by clicking 
  85. the Properties button.  You can pause/reset the time on 
  86. the display by pressing the Pause or Reset buttons.

  88. Also, you will find all of the buttons mentioned on the 
  89. menus at the top of the main window.

  91. There are five different things you that can happen when 
  92. the time expires (reaches 00:00:00).  In version 3.00, 
  93. you can have more than one thing happen:
  94.  
  95. 1) Alert me with a sound: Plays a sound.  If you don't 
  96. want it to be the default sound, you can change the wave
  97. file that is played using the properties button.
  98.  
  99. 2) Display Message Box: Upon selecting this, when the 
  100. time runs out, a message box will be displayed.  You can
  101. customize this message box by using properties button.
  102.  
  103. 3) Launch A Program: If you select this, when the time
  104. runs out, a program will automatically be launched.  You
  105. choose which program you want to be launched using the
  106. Properties button
  107.  
  108. 4) Shutdown: If this option is selected, when the time 
  109. runs out, your computer will automatically shutdown 
  110. without asking for confirmation.  If there is any unsaved 
  111. data, you will be prompted to save it.  You cannot have 
  112. both the shutdown and the restart option selected at the 
  113. same time.

  115. 5) Restart: This is the same thing as the Shutdown option 
  116. above, except that it will restart your computer instead 
  117. of shuting it down.  You cannot have both the shutdown 
  118. and the restart option selected at the same time.

  122. Command-line Arguments
  123. ----------------------------------------------------------
  124. Version 3.00 of EZ-Timer supports command line arguments.
  125. Here is a list of all of the switches you can use and what
  126. they do:
  127.  
  128. /m:[t, s, or r] - This will set the mode that the program 
  129. is started up in.  If you put "t" there, it will start up
  130. in Timer mode.  If you put "s", it will start up in 
  131. stopwatch mode.  If you put "c", it will start up in clock 
  132. mode.  If you put "r", it will start up in the mode it was
  133. closed in last time (from the "r"egistry)
  134.  
  135. /t:[time] - This sets the time to put on the clock (either
  136. to count up from using the stopwatch or count down from 
  137. using the Timer).  You can put the time in just about any
  138. form.  Let's say you want 0 hours, 10 minuites, and 35
  139. seconds, you could either put ":10:35" or "0:10:35", but 
  140. have to have something holding the hours place.  If you 
  141. were to put "10:35", it'd be understood as 10 hours and
  142. 35 minuites.

  144. /a:[actions] - This switch specifies the actions you wish
  145. to be selected.  Even if you're choosing to use the 
  146. stopwatch option, these will still be selected (just not
  147. used unless the EZ-Timer is switched to timer mode).  The
  148. way you specify the actions are as follows:

  150. a - Alert me with a sound
  151. m - Display a Message Box
  152. l - Launch a program
  153. s - Shutdown
  154. r - Restart
  155.  
  156. You simply put in all of the options you want in there all
  157. together in any order.  For example, let's say that you 
  158. wanted to be alerted with a sound, a message box to be 
  159. displayed, and your computer to shutdown, you would use
  160. the switch like this: "/a:ams".  If you need more help

  164. /s:[state] - You can use this optionally to specify the
  165. state in which the application is startup up in (either
  166. Normal or Minimized).  If you say "/s:m", then it will
  167. start up minimized.  If you say "/s:n", it will start up
  168. in normal mode.
